Falling Leaves: Mystery Medallion Quilt Pattern

Friday September 19, 2008
quiltingI've had lots of requests for more mystery quilt patterns (community members made my New Year's Day Mystery on January 1). This quilt's a bit different -- it's a medallion quilt that you'll work on from the center outwards. The illustration gives you a peek at the medallion surrounded by blank borders, but we'll get those filled in real soon.

Readers who subscribe to my newsletter got the link yesterday, so they might be a bit ahead on assembly, but it won't take long for you to catch up, because I'm posting new instructions a couple of times each day.

You can make the quilt in your choices of sizes, a 45" square wallhanging or a 22-1/2" square miniature.

Hope I didn’t miss any installments since the 1st mention of this new mystery quilt. I’m on the email list, and I’m looking forward to this one…love medallion quilts!
Thanks for bringing us another one, Janet.

Hey Andrea,

All of the steps will be in the same document the original link leads to (unless I run out of space, LOL). Mystery Medallion Quilt

Thanks for the reply, Janet. Looking forward to tonight’s round! My LQS is having a 30% off sale on fall fabrics which is very timely, don’t you think?!

Hey Janet, thanks for solving the “mystery” today! It’s fun, and just right for fall. I wonder what you think about using 4 paper-pieced blocks as cornerstones with the four square border? I’ve done 4 paper pieced blocks so far, but I know me too well…I’d probably stall out on the 32, and I wanted this to be a quickie project. I must say your directions (and measurements) for paper piecing are the best I’ve ever followed. The blocks make a very decorative border, but I’m short on time. Hopefully, others will chime in about their experience with this delightful mystery quilt. I’ll be looking for more in the future, perhaps a Christmas theme?
Thanks again,
Andrea

I need a pattern with amounts of fabric for a western star and I would like to strip quilt it. I thank you in advance.

Question really, I’m taking over a local Saturday Stitchers group and would like to run a Mystery Quilt on one Saturday but not sure how to go about getting this done without showing the ladies a pattern…. do you have any suggestions?
