Remember the Anniversary Sampler Quilt?

Wednesday August 27, 2008
quilt patternJill Chanapai and other members of her Bangkok quilt group made quilts from my First Anniversary Sampler patterns, and hers is the first finished sampler that's been submitted for our galleries. Jill used fabric from Australia and Bangkok to make the quilt. The sampler is hand-quilted with Aboriginal art symbols (what a brilliant idea - the symbols are perfect for quilting motifs).

I'm still kicking around a second sampler quilt. So far I haven't been entirely happy with any of my designs, but I do know it will be a wallhanging, not a larger quilt (although I love giving options, so I might go with a large and a small version). Right now I'm leaning towards a Row quilt.

How great is it to see your design come to life so beautifully? Jill and her friends in Bangkok did wonderful work!!

I hope her friends submit their quilts, and that others do, too. I do need to come up with a new sampler — something smaller. Wondering what people would think of a Row quilt. I kind of like that idea.

I really like the idea of a row quilt. I’ve been wanting to do one for some time now. I think my preference would be for a lap size. But instructions for more than one size would be of more benefit to more people.
