Happy Mother's Day
Sunday May 11, 2008
Happy Mother's Day to all of the quilting moms out there. I'm away from home, taking a series of workshops in hot and sunny Phoenix, so there's no sewing in my future for today. My Mother's Day will be spent in a classroom, but I'm hoping to have a little time to browse quilt shops before heading home tomorrow. If you plan to sew today, you'll find plenty of quilt patterns and quilt block patterns to get you started right here on About.com Quilting . And if you don't want to sew, but do need a quilt-fix, take a walk through some of the galleries in the Online Quilt Show. Have a wonderful day.
POLL: What Are Your Mother's Day Plans?
- I'll relax and let my family pamper me.
- We'll take a fun family outing.
- I'm going to sew all day.
- I'm not a mom myself, but I'll spend it with my mother.
- I'm off to do something fun on my own.
- It's just another day.

I’m planning to spend the day crocheting together an afghan for the Handmade Afghans Project to honor our wounded servicemen and women.
I live far away from my children and family, but will spend a wonderful day with my partner and I am sure my children will all think about me today.
I thought today was going to be awful.
My mom is deceased, my son in Iraq, problems with my daughter. Visited my mom and left flowers, my son wrote me a beautiful e-mail, my daughter came thru with explanations and apologies. This day certainly turned around, and turned into a great mothers day.
Mother’s Day is quiet. Drank a new coffee from Hawaii, went to worship, cooked lunch for husband and an elderly neighbor, read newspaper, took nap, now on to fixing that mess I made last night sewing on draperies. It is a good day. Silvia
I forgot to add. Out to eat with two sets of the children. The other set came to visit me. Got three gifts. I have three children.
4 of my 5 children (some with their mates) & 3 0f my grandchildren took me & my husband to a very nice brunch at a restaurant on the lake! It was cold & rainy outside but wonderful to be with my family. We came home with lots of cards & presents along with the hugs & kisses& I was able to finish 2 “grocery bags” that I made & machine embroidered last week. By then it was time to feed the Pugs & us. A very nice day!
My daughters and their families took me out to eat. Oh boy, no dishes to wash.
I received calls from all 5 of my children. And I finished my Lotto Challenge Quilt from my March ‘07 I Spy Blocks. I’ll be posting a picture on the Challenge Forum when I finish here. So I’ve had a great day!!
Usually my 2 daughters, husband and I spend Mother’s Day working in the yard and planting my flower beds. This is my only gift request every year…1 day for all of us to spend together, working (with lots of play, and laughter thrown in)and getting the yard ready for spring/summer. Unfortunately, this year my yard is a swamp from all the rain! So I requested that my mother’s day be postponed until we could celebrate it like we normally do (and I get much needed assistance w/ my yard)! The family agreed, so my mother’s day will happen in a week or so…unless we have MORE rain!! Happy Mother’s Day everyone!!
I always love Mother’s Day. My three wonderful daughters celebrate it in such a special way with a dinner, lovely cards and gifts, along with my 8 grandchildren.
Couldn’t be more perfect.
We went to his parents, and then our children came over, too, and we spent the day together. We even brought the puppy!
