April Block Lotto: Scrappy Sixteen-Patch Quilt Blocks

Tuesday April 1, 2008
quilt picturesOur Block Lotto Forum Hostesses chose a scrappy sixteen-patch block for April -- perfect timing for a fabric stash spring-cleaning event. You'll cut sixteen 2-inch squares for each block, and that should help you use up a bunch of those little leftover pieces that are tucked away in boxes and bins. Three squares will be black, to give patches in the final quilts a definitive punch, but the remaining fabric choices are pretty much wide open (with just a couple of exceptions). This block can be used in lots of ways, so I predict another record month for the Block Lotto. As always, if you're not into forum activities, just use the pattern to make your own sixteen-patch blocks.
