I love the Art Deco-ish look of this version of the Weeping Willow, a vintage quilt block pattern that's attributed to a few different publications from the 1930's. The timing is right for this design, because willow trees are early leafers, and where I live they always signal the arrival of spring. They're leafed out now at my house -- fingers crossed they don't get zapped by a cold spell. We'll make the Weeping Willow as a big block that finishes at 30-inches square. Use the block as-is or add a border or two to make it a slightly larger wallhanging. You might also make a table throw from the block or put the tree at the center of a medallion quilt.
