Marina Blues Quilt
Monday February 18, 2008
Marina Blues is a 68-inch square quilt made with two different quilt blocks. It was inspired by a model home I toured many, many years ago -- all teals and blues and sea-greens, with a crystal clear blue-lined pool outside the back door -- a perfect match for the Florida beach town it sat in. That house has been stuck in my mind ever since, but the theme doesn't mesh with our home in the mountains. Here I'm mostly drawn to the colors of ferns and stones, the darker greens and browns of pine tree needles and trunks -- earth colors rather than water colors. But I love the ocean and its varied colors keep coming back to mind. I might have to convert a bathroom to this theme, just to wrap them around me.© Janet Wickell

Marina Blues is my kind of quilt using all the wonderful shades of blues and greens together. It reminds me of ovrlooking the ocean, a place I love to be.

In admiring the full-quilt version, I noticed that the quilt was 35 blocks(5X7) while the instructions called for 31 blocks (18+13). Oops???
I painted my master bathroom “Aviary Blue” from Sherwin Williams to remind me of the Caribbean Sea. It works wonders for the soul.
Wadena, as mentioned in the forum, the “13″ on the intro page was a typo. The instructions page directs to make the correct number, 17, and all yardage was figured on 17. Thanks, Janet
I don’t have trouble making the top of the quilt, it is the putting it together. It is like the border has stretch when I get to the sewing part. I use a lot of pins and needles nothing I have done seams to do the trick. Could I get a little advise on that. Thanks
