Awareness Ribbon Colors
Many of us will either begin or continue to work on Christmas quilts this month, but let's not forget that October is devoted to breast cancer awareness. I know that many quilters in our community make comfort quilts for friends and family with breast cancer, and donate quilts for auctions when proceeds are given to cancer research. A large number of you have made quilts that are a textile representation of your own journey with the disease. I applaud all of your efforts. I lost a dear sister to breast cancer -- if there's anything I can ever do to help spread the word about a cancer awareness project, just ask.We all know that pink signifies breast cancer awareness, but other cancers and diseases use different colors to bring support and enhance attention to research. My awareness ribbon colors list might help you design your next awareness quilt.

I find your tips, general know-how about quilting and patterns really helpful. Last month you asked about new projects. Like most quilters I make quilts for charity, mostly the hospices for Aids related orphans, but also for children with cancer and so on. What about a project for tactile quilts for the blind. I started on something like that and it is not so easy because cotton does not really lend itself to the sense of touch. I use silk, satin, wool, tweed, but I am sure that all those talented people in the quilting world will come up with much better ideas than mine. And what about the fabric designers? Do you think this could be a viable project. Kind regards and many thanks for your very good on line quilting magazine.
