Easy Quilt Block Pattern: Mock Log Cabin

Saturday January 27, 2007
I tend to be impatient, so the almost instant gratification I get from making simple quilt blocks is great motivation to finish a project. Bright Hopes falls in that category, and so does the Not Quite Bow Ties block, which resembles its namesake but doesn't require that you fuss with set-in seams. Then there's this quilt block. I call it Mock Log Cabin, because it has that same "around the center" kind of twist that you see in a true log cabin block.

I like it. Then do you have a special way of putting the blocks together?

I think they look best straight set, side by side, arranging lights and darks to form motion in kind of the same way as you would a log cabin.

I love this pattern. I never thought of it in black and white, but I love it. Maybe droping a red sq in the middle evey once in a while would give it another look. Good job. I love your sq. sheri
