Quilt Block Pattern: Turning Nines Into a Seven

Thursday November 9, 2006
Yes, it's an odd name, but its traditional name isn't much better. I like the way the nine-patch units at the corners of this quilt block add subtle value differences, but the best thing about the block is that it's easy to make and you don't have to work with even one stretchy bias edge. I've included instructions for two blocks for quilters who want to make a series of scrappy blocks by pulling fabrics from their stashes. You'll also find yardages and cutting instructions for twenty identical blocks if you'd prefer to go that route.
